I lifted my nose to the air in a hesitant manner. I knew that if I didn’t catch her scent this time I was going to go mad. If I had actually been in human form at the moment I would have checked my watch to see just how long I had been out here in the woods following the scent that had become more like home to me than my own house. She was all that mattered to me now and I realized that if I didn’t have her I honestly was going to have to be locked up. It wasn’t just that my friends were worrying about me. No, I was even starting to worry about me.
My eyes fell to my paws as I started forward again. There was a faint hint of her trail here and I was going in the wrong direction again. She had turned some where back and the wind had carried the smell here. So I changed course, veering to the left, and took off again. It was becoming a habit now. I would run for three or four minutes and stop to smell the air, check which direction she was heading in.
Loup-garou. A shape shifter that takes on the form of a wolf. They are much larger than wolves of course but they hold all the same characteristics. They walk among the humans as if they belong to them. And they fit in perfectly, keeping their other halves hidden well underneath their skin. They stalk the night and keep to their pack as much as they can.
But now, one of the loup-garou or more of them is threatening to reveal the secret to the entire community. There have already been two murders in the community and everyone fears more. Its obvious that the two people were murdered by an animal and a large one at that. The pack is in a frenzy to find the person within the pack that is responsible for this and the humans are searching just as hard, though they look only for animals. Not only are the loup-garou in danger but so are the humans.
